How do I know the other party won't sue me after your decision?
By agreeing to the dispute resolution process, it is required that the parties acknowledge that the decision and award rendered by settle today is binding and enforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction.
What happens if I change my mind during the process?
A decision and award will not be rendered by settle today until the case is submitted by the parties for a decision. however, once a party agrees to the process, their credit card will be charged, whether or not the case is ultimately submitted to settle today for a decision and award.
Do I have to hire an attorney to submit "relevant case law"?
No. You may directly submit any information that you would like considered by settle today during the dispute resolution process, including case law or codified laws. it is important to remember, however, that settle today is not giving legal advice by reviewing the information you submit or by rendering a decision and award.
How do I know your mediators are experienced and trained?
Settle today only hires attorneys or individuals who are trained or experienced in the dispute resolution process.
Is there an appeal process with new information?
Once a decision and award has been rendered by settle today, the parties are bound by that decision and award, which is enforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction. an appeals process is not offered through settle today.
Settle Today is a revolutionary new process in alternative dispute resolution. Using only your web browser and email you can quickly, easily, and affordably settle your dispute without paying for expensive attorneys and going through the tedious court system.
So how exactly does this work?
The process is actually quite simple. The first party, the initiator, enters their information on settletoday.com. Once this occurs, emails are automatically generated to the other parties (the respondents) asking them to join the process. Once they join, all parties give rebuttals to each other's input. Finally, the information is submitted to the mediator who will settle the case within 24 hours of case completion.
Any resident, 18 years or older, of the United States (any of the 50 states or D.C.). Unfortunately, we cannot offer service outside the United States at this time.
How can I be sure I'll receive a fair settlement?
All the cases on Settle Today are reviewed by real attorneys and certified mediators who take the time and effort to create solid, fair settlements. Fast, yet high quality, settlements are our primary business and we take it very seriously.
Is this settlement enforceable?
The settlement you receive is completely legally binding. This is no different than a traditional legal settlement you would receive by going through the courts or a traditional arbitrator and is just as enforcable.
How do I receive my settlement?
Once the case is complete, you can download your settlement from the main case page as a PDF document. If you don't have a viewer for this installed on your computer you can obtain one for free from Adobe.
What is required to use this service?
All participating parties will need a major credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, or American Express) and a working email address. You will be asked to list some very basic information on the case, but no paperwork is needed.
We are offering an introductory price of $99.00/party. The initiating party has the option to pay the entire bill (thus making the offer more enticing to the other parties), or each party can pay their own fee.
Once the case is fully submitted by all parties, we guarantee a settlement within 24 hours. However, the whole process may take longer than that. Unfortunately, it is impossible to predict when the other parties will respond to your offer (they have up to 5 days). Also, we can't guarantee how long parties will take to respond during the rebuttal process. Still, cases typically move quickly and we feel there is no faster way to receive a fair settlement.
How many parties can be involved in one case?
Most of the time there are just two parties, but there are times when there is a need for more. There is no technical limit to the number of parties involved, but there is a separate fee for each party and it will also make the case take longer as more parties need to respond during each step.
What happens if none of the parties accept my invitation?
The case is automatically cancelled and your money will be refunded by our automated system.
What happens if some of the parties don't accept my invitation?
The case continues with the accepting parties. However, if the initiator opted to pay the entire bill the portion for the refused parties will be refunded by the automated system.
One of the other parties says they didn't get the invite e-mail!
This is most often due to spam filters. We've done our best to make our e-mails seem unspam-like but sometimes they still get caught in spam filters. If this happens you can try to resend the e-mail by logging into your main case page and using the 'resend' button next to the party you wish to resend to. You can also edit the e-mail address if they happen to have another e-mail address. If that doesn't work, please e-mail us at support@settletoday.com and we'll assist you.
Sounds interesting, but I still have more questions!
No problem. Send an e-mail to support@settletoday.com and we'll be happy to answer any remaining questions you might have.
